Week 4
Results:Game #1
This was a top of the table clash with Team C (James) against Team D (Labrom). This game was a back and forth encounter, with chances being missed, crossbars, posts, and great saves. Team D had the lead for most of the game on goals by Jeff Dennis, Dan Cheney and Igor Pletchtenko. Team C equalized mid way through the second half on goals by Roberto Guttierez, James Macmillan and Antony Coscarella. Team D had a flurry of chances to win the game late on, but Morgan Kenny stood tall and made some great saves.
RESULT Team C 3, Team D 3
Game #2
Team A (Dom) versus Team B (Steve). This was a game of big importance to Team B who needed to get some points on the board. Team B took the league 2-1 in this game on goals by Paul Kihara and Steve Kowlesaar, and had numerous chances to finish the game off, but just couldn't find the back of the net. Andy Clements scored for Team A. Then Team A finished a chance when Ben Makuch scored on a diving header on a pass by Eddie Sabrango. Sanjeev then scored to give Team A the lead and Andy Clements netted his second to end the game.
RESULT TEAM A 4, TEAM B 2

Royals Profile: Marc Labrom
Marc is entering his third season with the Royals after a brief stint with the baby blue of St Anthony's feeling the colour won't bring out his eyes. Prior to that, he had a long career in his native Montreal playing for the established club West Island Lakers. Mark's Montreal flair is evident on and off the pitch. Off the pitch, his idea of a night out consists of slipping into some tight faded jeans, supper at 10pm (that's right 10pm!) followed by a trip to chic Martini Bar, and a long night of voguing while trying to attract the ladies and repel the fellas. On the pitch, he has been a great addition to the Royals. During his tenure, he's proved his versatility while playing all position across the backline and even some assignments on the wing. The self pro-claimed "destroyer" is always ready for a well-timed tackle that can bring down large and small strikers alike. A tenacious man-marker when called on, the gazelle-like strides keep attackers on a short leash. Marc has a knack for reading the play the play well and stepping up to intercept a pass at opportune times. Offensively, Marc is always looking to add to the attack with overlapping runs from the back and well played balls through the midfield... Despite being deaf in one ear, he's been known to ignore instructions and slags from all directions. But you'll surely be made a fan of Marc's game with his vision and tenacity, you'll likely even hear yourself say "Marc, I wish I could quit you." But you won't be able to...

Royals Profile: James MacMillan
This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Royal craves not these things. He is reckless..... well, er, not exactly. Living/playing fast is not really James' thing. Tanning salons should be but I digress. If one sets aside, for a moment, his avant-garde wardrobe and edgy engine-less summer ride, one cannot but concede that James stands as one of the most focussed and reliable pillars in the Royals on-field set-up. Royals bedrock if you will. Whether he is plying his trade at the back or in the middle of the park, James never really has bad games. Indeed, on the contrary, he often plays a truly commanding role on the pitch, dispatching opponents with solar plexi-shattering shoulder charges that would make Vinnie Jones squirm and reigning majestically in the air. Defensively, James is rigorous in the mark and often exhibits good judgment. Offensively, James is blessed with good feet for a mid-to-big man and his vision and distribution are virtually always on song. Deeply committed, and a versatile and good all-around athlete, he will no doubt play an important part in any Royals successes over the coming year provided his weakness for hot tubs and small boys don't get him into trouble with the law.

Royals Profile: Steve Kowlessar
There is a famous quote from Johann Cruyff that stipulates that the game of football is simple, but it is very difficult to play simple. It follows that the best compliment I can give Steve Kowlessar as a player is that he plays simple; he plays with such simplicity in fact that when he is shielding a ball, making a pin-point pass, or scoring on one of his booming shots from 40 yards away from goal, he looks as though he is hardly breaking a sweat. Steve is a quiet player on the surface, often he will show up for training or a game and lose himself in the crowd, finding his way to a football and quietly going about warming up by himself on the side. If you're not careful you might miss the fact that he is even there at first. Hardly what you would expect from the son of a Guyanese father and a Quebec-born mother. But underneath that calm demeanor lies a man with a steely survivor instinct; once the whistle blows Steve is a fierce competitor, and should he ever find himself behind on the score sheet or feel hard done by an opposing player's rough play, his Caribbean and Gallic passion shines through in spades with flashy play, bone-crushing tackles and a flair for late-game dramatics. Steve is a player that leads by example, and believes that actions speak louder than words. His biggest asset is his ability to play high quality football on a consistent basis, but should the situation call for something out of the ordinary, Steve has that rare ability to raise his game to an even higher level. As he now enters his third year with the Ottawa Royals, you feel it's time for Steve to take over as one of the Premier players in the province and lead the blue & white back to provincial glory and another run at the elusive Men's amateur National Championship.

Royals Profile: Dom Rochon
Dominic Rochon (born May 18, 1974 in Ottawa) is a midfielder for the Ottawa Royals Soccer Club. Rochon began his soccer career in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, developing his passion and talent for the game with his first club team Outaouais Youth Soccer Club (1987-1989: Quebec Major League). Following his career debut, he continued to develop as a player and leader with club team Nepean United Youth (1989-1991: National Soccer League). Rochon would enhance his skills and knowledge of the game by traveling to Argentina where he was recruited by U-18 football club River Plate (1991-1992). Upon his return to Ottawa, Dom applied his newly acquired South American abilities in the Ottawa-Carleton Soccer League with club teams St. Anthony's Soccer Club (1992-1993), Gloucester Soccer Club (1993-1995, 1996-1997), Maple Leaf (1995-1996), and Ottawa Royals(1997-2000), before joining the first semi-professional CPSL soccer team in the region, the Ottawa Wizards (2000-2002). As a hard-working midfielder with the ability play under pressure, and distribute the ball with accuracy, Rochon played a key component to the Ottawa Wizards' CPSL league championships in his two seasons with the club. His success continued with club teams Kanata Soccer Club (2002-2003) and Ottawa Royals (2003-2006) leading both teams to Ontario Cup Championships and the Canadian National Championship Tournament. Team mates of Rochon attest that he is the heartbeat of any team on which he plays, often taking the leadership in the locker room to inspire them at half-time. In his seventh season with the Ottawa Royals, Rochon's tremendous work-rate and dedication will be an integral part of the club's future success.

2006-11-01 Directions to the Superdome
Before anyone asks, here are the directions to the Superdome in Gloucester.
The SUPERDOME is located on Bearbrook Road in the east end of Ottawa. To access it, follow Highway 174 to Montreal Road/ St Joseph Road exit. Take St Joseph Road east about 1 km and then south on Bearbrook for approximately two km, the THUNDERDOME is on the right.
Alternatively, take Highway 417 to Innes Road Exit, head east on Innes Road about 3-4 km and turn left into Blackburn Hamlet. About 1 km into Blackburn, turn north on Bearbrook for 2-3 km and the SUPERDOME in on the left.
If this isn't clear enough, either get a taxi or visit their site at http://www.superdome.ca/

Couple more issues.
1) Shinpads are mandatory - no unnecessary injuries and these do help. Besides, you play outdoors with them, so you should play indoors with them.
2) Photos required for this Friday. Two photos (of yourself) headshots please.

Week 1 alternates for:
Team B: Jason Da Costa (vacation) = Andy Nera

Team D: Tyler Wallace = Antoine Lagarec (second game)
Team A: Aydin Oyali (2 weeks injury) = Sergio Miccas
