2007-01-22: Match Reports

Team B, vs. Team C

The Silent Knight's Team B took on James MacMillan's Team C in the first game, which went according to form with Team C winning 7-1 (albeit with six disputed goals and one deflection). Ryan Devereaux opened the scoring with a good finish, followed closely after by Roland Tiamuh's long-ranges shot. Andriy Szwarek produced a string of fine saves before the half, but could do nothing to deny Pawel the third goal of the game close to half. Captain MacMillan almost scored a fourth for his team before the half, but his long-range screamer crashed against the post.

The SK took drastic action at the half and switched keepers, with Antoine Lagarec replacing Szwarek. Unfortunately, it didn't make too much difference as the offensive power of Team C continued its impressive elan. Devereaux redirected a shot from Pawel to make it 4-0 and then quick goals from Tiamuh and Devereaux (his hattrick) made it six without reply. Down, but not out, Steve Kowlessar initiated the best move of the match in reply, linking brilliantly with Koutras and Farant to give Farant the opportunity to reduce the margin of defeat a little (1-6). However, Ryan Devereaux took advantage of a superb run by Tiamuh to slot home the ball for the final goal of the game. Team C won 7-1.

Team A vs. Team D

The Dominator's Team A took on Agent Morbal's Team D in this tense, terse and exciting encounter, closely marshalled by referee MacMillan from a single spot on the sidelines. The game started well for Team D, with Sanjeev Parmar opening the scoring from distance with a powerful navel-ring assisted shot into the top corner. Eddie Sebrango equalized for Team A, moving onto a chest pass from Burundi legend Thierry Ntwari and hitting the back of the net from 20 yards out. In the second half, Team A started to take control and Dominic Rochon put his team ahead from a corner, before Basil Phillips took advantage of some slack marking to add a third. Jeff Dennis pulled a goal back for Team D after excellent work by Parmar and Hoefler. Parmar slotted home a fiercely contested penalty to tie things up at 3-3. Tyler Wallace produced the save of the match from Basil Phillips to seemingly leave the game deadlocked. But in the final seconds, Team D guest star Roland Tiamuh intercepted a long pass from Kevin Sheehan and fired home a 20-yard rocket to give his side the lead. Incredibly, with referee MacMillan stifling the urge to stretch and blow the whistle, Eddie Sebrango equalized from close range to make the final score 4-4.
