This coming Friday marks the end of the Royals indoor competition. Team C have been worthy winners and they have lit up the Superdome with their stylish green shirts, witty banter and modest self-control. Congratulations.
This, of course, means that we are moving into team allocation time. Over the coming weekend, I will get in touch with everyone individually to tell them what is happening for the coming season. There are several options available.
1) A group of players will be invited to continue trying out for the Men's Premier Team
2) A group will be invited to try out for the MC1 team, which we are hoping will be granted to the Royals early next month.
From Friday, March 2, we will be organizing sessions at the Superdome in the same time slot as we have currently--nice and easy, no change for the group trying out for MP. However, prior to this happening, every person involved will have to register for the team and make arrangements to pay their fees with Marc Lapointe. It is easy to do this on-line - Jane Dennis has provided the information for this (see earlier posts). If you are not selected for the team--or decide to leave of your own accord--you will, of course, be refunded your fees.
Every player that tries out for the team MUST pay a $35 try-out fee to Marc Lapointe. We will try to refund this to people that make the team. (Please note, the charge is the club's policy, the refund is the team's.)
If there are any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.

2007-02-03: Further exciting news about registration
The club has asked me to provide some more information about registration for the 2007 season.
Registration is $275 and should be done online. I believe most people did that in 2006 without trouble. You can pay by Visa, cheque or INTERAC email transfer. Lapointe can also collect cheques from you if you want.
The club is also charging a $35 fee for try outs, which we will try to refund for players that make the team. If you find these fees extortionate, you are not wrong - but this is pretty much what the club has to pay the OCSL for fields, referees (yes, we do pay them), insurance etc. There are, however, ways that the club can reduce this cost for you.
Further news soon.

On other news, we have no longer got the Monday night training sessions at Lester B. Pearson. Which is just as well, because I had 4 people out for the first session last Monday.1) Commit to coaching a youth team or competitive senior team and play for free. You do have to go to coaching clinics for this (which the club pays for). There are several young teams that would benefit from coaching by MP players. You wouldn’t have to be the head coach, just help out once a week.
2) Sell Jane Dennis' famous Grocery Gift cards and earn 5% of dollar sold. James MacMillan has recently bought a house with the kickbacks he has received. Most people buy groceries anyway and this might help knock some cash off the total.
Further news soon.

2007-02-02: Registration
Just the first in a series of friendly reminders that registration is going to be due soon. The cost of this is being thrashed out at the moment - we are trying to make it as low as possible for everyone, but the reality is that with increased OCSL fees, etc. etc....
Marc Lapointe will start taking cheques soon.
